Regions Bank and Books for Kids Present Check

Regions Bank, Books for Kids Bring Smiles to Students’ Faces

Oscar Davis, a representative from Regions Bank, stopped by Life School on March 3 to present a $2,500 check and a large container of school supplies to benefit Life School students. The funds, through Books for Kids, provided Spanish-language books to elementary students at the South Dallas campus.

Each year, Books For Kids visits Life School to give each student a free book. Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher Isabel Green explains, “I am always very appreciative of the fact that Books For Kids always brings books in Spanish print for our bilingual students.”

Books for Kids provides books to disadvantaged children for independent reading and also works to increase access by providing books to classroom libraries. They define disadvantaged children as “those attending Title One schools with an economically disadvantaged percentage of 70% or higher and/or an ELL population of 40% or higher.”

This year, Mrs. Green asked the Books for Kids representative, “Who sponsored our school?”  The representative joyfully explained that the books were funded by Regions Bank. Regions Financial Corporation is one of the nation’s largest full-service providers of consumer and commercial banking, wealth management and mortgage products and services. Regions serves customers across the South, Midwest and Texas.

“My class and I are incredibly thankful for our free books! [...] Books that are in Spanish print are hard to come by,” said Mrs. Green. “Casa Green loves to read, and we send a huge thank you!”

Chief Culture Officer Jennifer Wilson and Chief Development Officer Eddie Davis received the check from Regions Bank on behalf of Life School. Mr. Davis said, “We are so thankful for community partners who believe in our mission. Generous donors like Regions Bank help Life School provide a quality school experience for all students.”
