Life School Oak Cliff 2022 Graduates

Life School Oak Cliff Earns Special Distinction for Postsecondary Readiness

On Friday August 12th, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released new accountability ratings for the 2021-2022 school year. Accountability ratings are based on end-of-year test scores including STAAR and EOC exams. As a district, Life School received a score of 87 out of 100, earning a ‘B’ rating and improving from a score of 81 in 2018-2019. Within the reports is another notable achievement for Life School Oak Cliff – earning a distinction for Postsecondary Readiness.

Postsecondary Readiness indicators for campuses include factors such as the percentage of STAAR Results at “Meets Grade Level” or “Above Standard (All Subjects)”; graduation rates; SAT/ACT participation; and College, Career and Military Readiness. Schools earn distinctions compared to other schools with similar sizes and student bodies. In that peer group, only the top 10 earn a distinction.

Of these indicators, Life School earned maximum points for Graduation Rate and CCMR. CCMR points are given based upon graduates who accomplish any of the CCMR indicators:

  • Meets Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Criteria in ELA/Reading and Mathematics;
  • Meets Criteria on Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB) Examination;
  • Earns Dual Course Credits;
  • Earns an Associates Degree;
  • Earns an Industry-Based Certification;
  • Graduates with Completed Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Workforce Readiness;
  • Graduates Under an Advanced Degree Plan and is Identified as a Current Special Education Student;
  • Enlists in the Armed Forces.

Earning maximum points for both measures is a notable achievement. “We are so proud of our students,” says Life School Superintendent Dr. Brent Wilson.

Chief Academic Officer Troy Mooney says, “Attending Life School is a superior choice for families to improve their student’s academic performance.”

To help students prepare for life after graduation, Life School Oak Cliff offers a wide range of programs and services. Life High School Oak Cliff (LHSOC) partners with Dallas College to offer Dual Credit, giving students the opportunity to earn an associates degree during high school. LHSOC also offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) in a wide range of programs of study – Audio / Video Technology and Communications; Health Science; Human Services; Information Technology; Education and Training; Business and Finance; and STEM.
