Life School Oak Cliff is proud to celebrate Dr. Amanda Andrews receiving the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from Hardin-Simmons University. This prestigious recognition honors individuals who have excelled in their careers and made a lasting impact on their communities. Dr. Andrews embodies these qualities through her daily work as an athletic trainer, educator and mentor.
Dr. Andrews's journey in athletic training began at Hardin-Simmons University, where she earned her Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Athletic Training in 2005. She continued her education with a master’s in physical education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2017 and later earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Liberty University in 2021.
Building on her strong academic foundation, Dr. Andrews joined Life School in 2012 as the district’s first full-time athletic trainer.
She developed and launched the Sports Medicine I, II, and III courses, providing students with hands-on experience that has led many to pursue careers as Licensed Athletic Trainers (LATs). Her leadership has not only strengthened the athletic department but has also created lasting opportunities for young professionals in the field.
“I hope students gain an understanding of what the sports medicine team is all about,” said Dr. Andrews. “There are many moving parts when diagnosing, treating, and rehabbing athletes that are traditional and non-traditional.”
Beyond the training room, Dr. Andrews has worked tirelessly to establish systems and procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of Life School’s student-athletes. Her passion and expertise have made a profound impact, and her influence extends far beyond the sidelines.
“I keep up with new national, state, and local laws, mandates, and recommendations aimed toward keeping people safe on and off the field. I also talk often with athletic and campus administrators to see what we may need to change, and share ideas and thoughts of what that may look like for our district or campuses,” said Dr. Andrews.
We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Andrews’s dedication and service to Life School. Her recognition as an Outstanding Young Alumnus is well deserved, and Life School is honored to have her as part of the team.
