More than 110 golfers teed off during Life School's eighth annual Fairways For Leaders (FFL) Golf Tournament on June 9, raising $70,000 for the Life School Education Foundation (LSEF). More than 20 businesses and individuals participated to support Life’s School’s mission—to develop leaders through strong academics, character training, and partnerships with parents and the community.
The LSEF supports Life School and its mission by providing funds for the Dr. Tom Wilson Scholarship, Legacy Club Scholarship, and classroom teacher grants. In addition, in partnership with Mentors Care, the LSEF is providing funds for mentorship programs that support at-risk high school students, helping them build positive relationships, stay on track academically, and successfully graduate. Through this partnership, the LSEF is committed to investing in the personal and educational growth of students who need it most.
The fun-filled day, presented by Strategic Janitorial Services and HKS at Walnut Creek Country Club, included a four-person scramble format and various contests. In addition, players participated in raffles worth over $2,500 in prizes.
“Throughout the tournament, I had the opportunity to connect more deeply with our generous sponsors and learn about the heart behind their continued support,” said Azaria Silmon, Development Specialist.
Participants were impressed when alumni of Life High School Waxahachie clinched first place for the second consecutive year. The winning team included Nolan De Los Santos, Jonathan Nguyen, Tommy Nguyen, and Iris Wong. It was a proud moment for the alumni and a celebration of the legacy they continue to build.
Following the Fairways for Leaders tournament, players enjoyed a catered lunch from Bluebonnet BBQ, a local favorite from Waxahachie, TX. During the meal, attendees learned more about the mission of Mentors Care and were invited to get involved as donors or volunteer mentors for students in need. The event wrapped up with the announcement of tournament winners and raffle prize drawings, bringing the day to a celebratory close.
“I am very pleased with the success of this year’s Fairways for Leaders golf tournament. Despite the weather challenges, our sponsors, players, volunteers, and students managed to come together to create a memorable and impactful day,” said Eddie Davis, Life School Chief Development Officer. “Over the ten-year history of the Fairways for Leaders tournament, we have raised over $500,000 to support Life School students and teachers. Our business and community partners and donors have made this success possible. Thank you!”
Walnut Creek Country Club provided an exceptional setting for the Fairways for Leaders tournament. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was handled with care, delivering outstanding service that played a key role in the event’s success. Their professionalism and hospitality created a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
