Life Middle School Waxahachie 7th Grade 4x100 Relay Team Sets National Record

In a spectacular display of athleticism and teamwork, the 7th-grade girls 4X100 Meter Relay Team from Life Middle School Waxahachie has surged to the top, setting a new standard at both the state and national levels.

The group, composed of Madison Potts, Kendall Murray, Laila Tolbert, Jewel Webb, and Brooklyn Hayden, blazed across the finish line. The record-breaking time of 00:48.13 now stands as the official top mark in both state and national records in recorded official time runs for their age group. Their dedication to precision, speed, and seamless baton exchanges propelled them to this remarkable achievement, showcasing their individual talent and unwavering commitment to collective success.

The group secured first place in each race they competed in this year. They also brought home Championship titles at meets, including the MetroLeague Zone Meet and The Meet of Champions.

Track Coach Alexandria Scales expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishment, remarking, "I am so proud of this team and the young women they're becoming. These athletes work so hard on and off the track and prove daily what a student-athlete is. Every day, I am blessed to witness how this program is evolving into something special, and I'm glad to be a part of it. As runners, they each brought a unique part that made this relay extremely special. I was so overwhelmingly proud at how they stayed consistent with challenging themselves because my goal as a coach is to instill in them that excellence is just a result of always having the drive to do better, not just in sports but in life.”

Echoing Coach Scales' sentiments, Life School Athletic Director Scott Thrush commended the team on their historic achievement: "Upon witnessing these young ladies in action, their speed surpassed all expectations, leaving me amazed. They are more than just great athletes; their humility and gratitude were displayed as we recognized them before our School Board. They are a great group of kids and a joy to be around. I look forward to the next five years and am excited to witness the remarkable achievements this group will accomplish together."

As the 7th-grade girls' 4x100 relay team basks in the glory of their newfound title as state and national record holders, they continue to be shining examples of what can be achieved through determination, teamwork, and perseverance.
