Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) is thrilled to announce that two of its outstanding students, Arielle Holmes, a senior, and Shane Williams, a junior, have been awarded the prestigious 2023 National African American Recognition Award (NAARA) by the College Board. This recognition celebrates their exceptional academic achievements and contributions to their community.  The NAARA by the College Board is an esteemed recognition awarded to African-American students across the United States who excel academically. Arielle Holmes and Shane Williams have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies and have earned this remarkable distinction through high GPAs and SAT or PSAT scores. Both students were awarded this honor out of 72,000 applicants.   Arielle Holmes, a senior at Life High School Waxahachie, expressed her gratitude for the award, saying, "I believe that this award is not only an impressive milestone I've achieved, but the fruits of my hard work over the years coming full circle. I am grateful for the support of those who have brought me this far, and I hope to continue surpassing milestones and exceeding expectations."  Junior student Shane Williams shared his thoughts on this accomplishment: "This award was a positive reinforcement to me as a scholar and an athlete. It's always great to receive recognition because it reminds me of all the factors that go into success, such as family, determination, and discipline. It also reminds me that although there are many hardships, there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel waiting for me. I want to thank my family and teachers, and I hope they feel as proud as I am."  Freddie Stanmore, the Principal of Life High School Waxahachie, expressed his pride in these exceptional students, stating, "We are so proud of Arielle Holmes and Shane Williams.   These leaders allow their actions to extol their character.  Their honor is an inspiration to other learners in our school community.  We are thankful for their example of LIfeLeadership.”  The NAARA by the College Board recognizes the potential for academic excellence within the African-American community. It aims to encourage talented students like Arielle and Shane to continue pursuing higher education.
