Life High School Waxahachie Soccer Players Make All-Ellis County Team

This spring marked an exciting season for the girls and boys soccer teams at Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW). To finish the season, 3 girls and 3 boys were named to the All-Ellis County Soccer team for the 2023 season. Additionally, 1 girl and 6 boys were named Honorable Mention.

LHSW Girls Soccer had a 27-4-1 record this year. They won the District 6-4A Championship and the Bi-District Playoff Championship. The girls also made school history by reaching the Regional Finals of the playoffs. In addition, 3 players were named as part of the girls All-Ellis County Team and 3 players received honorable mentions. One of the players was named a top 4 candidate for the All-Ellis County Player of the Year. The players and their stats include:

All Ellis County Team:
Zanae Nylund, Sophomore; 45 goals, 34 assists, District 6-4A MVP, 1st team All Region, Top 4 candidate for All-Ellis County Player of the year
Kailee Armstrong, Freshman; 46 goals, 18 assists, District 6-4A Offensive MVP, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All State.
Kaylynn Griffis, Junior; Team Captain, 18 shut-outs this season, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All State.
Emily Cofer, Junior; Team Captain, 6 goals, 12 assists, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All State.

All Ellis Country Honorable Mention:
Jaynicia Simpson, Freshman; 24 goals, 23 assist, District 6-4A Offensive New-Comer of the Year, 1st Team All District

LHSW Boys Soccer holds a 20-5-1 record this year. They won the District 6-4A Championship and the Bi-District Playoff Championship. In addition, 3 players were named as part of the boy All-Ellis County Team and 6 players received honorable mentions.

Gabriel Rodriguez, Junior; 26 goals, 19 assists, District 6-4A MVP, 1st Team All District, 2nd Team All State
Gabriel Sias, Junior; 23 goals, 8 assists, District 6-4A Utility Player of the Year, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Region
Christian Hernandez, Sophomore; 8 goals, 14 assists, District 6-4A Midfield Player of the Year, 1st Team All District

All Ellis Country Honorable Mention:
Parker Alston, Junior; Team Captain, 4 goals, 10 shut-outs, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Region
Troy Solis, Sophomore; 85 saves, 10 shut-outs, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All State
Michael Solis, Freshman; 1 goal, 3 assists, 1st Team All District
Riley Anderson, Senior; 8 goals, 3 assists, 1st Team All District
Michael Almaguer, Freshman; Defender. (injured)
Sebastian Flores, Sophomore; 2 goals, 1st Team All District

Chase Bishop, LHSW Girls and Boys Head Soccer Coach, said, “This really was a historic year for LHSW soccer. I can’t thank our admin, coaching staff, and families we partner with enough for all their contributions to our success this season. We’re excited for the growth and future of this program as we build off this year.”
