Dr. Russell’s impact as an educator reaches far beyond the classroom. With more than 17 years at Life High School Oak Cliff, and 22 years in education, she has achieved an extraordinary record of student success, with 100% of her students passing their STAAR exams year after year.
"Through her remarkable record of student success and her service as a leader and mentor, Dr. Alissa Russell embodies the spirit of excellence that drives Texas public charter schools forward," says Natalie Kaharick, TPCSA CEO.
A leader and mentor both on campus and statewide, Dr. Russell serves as Mathematics Department Head, Senior Class Sponsor, and Campus Field Trip Coordinator. She coaches academic teams, tutors after hours, and is known as a trusted mentor and problem-solver for both students and staff.
Her influence also extends across the state. Dr. Russell serves on the Texas Math Content Educator Standards Advisory Committee, helping shape the future of math education across the state. She also serves on a Student Advisory Committee for Senator Royce West, advocating for student and teacher needs at the policy level.
“Dr. Russell has a passion for her students and their success. Her commitment to student achievement inspires everyone around her,” said Dr. Brent Wilson, Life School Superintendent. “She exemplifies the LifeLeader traits and is a powerful example of what it means to teach with purpose and lead with heart.”
Dr. Russell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Dallas Baptist University, a Master of Science in Mathematics from Almeda University, a Master of Science in Education and a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership from Walden University.
