Life School Parent Updates

  • Adopt Self-managed Habits

Dear Life School Families, Learning from home creates new opportunities for our staff and students to practice many LifeLeader attributes. Adopting Self-Managed habits can be helpful in adjusting to a new learning environment by avoiding distractions, managing multiple people in the home, and creating a daily schedule.

  • Advisory for Traveling Outside of the US

Dear Life School Parents, On January 21st, President Biden issued an Executive Order that requires anyone who travels outside of the United States to obtain a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding a flight to return home and follow CDC guidelines for quarantine.

  • Attendance Policy & Childcare

Dear Life School Families, Congratulations on the completion of your first day of remote learning!  Even though we were unable to see our students face-to-face, it was fun to see all their smiling faces shared on social media.

  • August 2020 Back to School Parent Meeting

Dear Life School Families, Thank you for joining us for the Parent Meeting on August 18. The video from the meeting was recorded for you to review or share with others. For full details about the start of school, see our Back to School web page.

  • Back to School 2020

Dear Life School Families, Thank you to all who have already completed the Learning Option Commitment Form. As of today, 64% of Life School students have selected remote learning for the first 9 weeks of school. While we had hoped to offer both on-campus and remote learning beginning the first day of school, there have been several announcements at the state and local level that have impacted our start of school plans.

  • Back to School Remote Instruction

Dear Parents and Guardians, Life School would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we move closer to the beginning of the school year.

  • Campuses are Closing Until Further Notice

Dear Life School Family, To slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in our communities, Life School campuses will close indefinitely. This action follows advice from County Health and Human Services officials and aligns with other school districts in the area.

  • Choose Ethical Leadership

Dear Life School Families, Welcome to Week 7 of Distance Learning! This week, we are exploring Ethical Leadership as our LifeLeader attribute. In response to COVID-19, health officials and government agencies are making many new rules and regulations. Governor Abbott will be holding another press conference this afternoon announcing new details to reopen Texas businesses. As ethical leaders, it is important that each choice and decision we make is aligned with laws and government policies.

  • Committed to Ready to Learn, Ready to Lead, Ready for Life

Dear Parents, Even with these unprecedented and rapidly-changing times, our staff have not wavered in our commitment to providing your child with the best education possible to prepare them to be Ready to Learn, Ready to Lead, and Ready for Life. This week we have been developing our at-home learning instructional plan while upgrading our staff capacity for this new model. We have provided access and resources to curriculum tools for all of our parents and students.

  • Communication Schedule

Dear Life School Families, Financial Literacy is one of our 15 LifeLeader Attributes.  A question I ask myself for financial literacy is: What is my plan for current and future financial stability? We know that these times of uncertainty can bring on additional financial stress for families. Please click here for a list of local resources for any families in need.

  • Countless Acts of Service

Dear Life School Families, This week’s LifeLeader attribute is Citizenship. Even though COVID-19 has brought many challenges to our world, we have all witnessed countless acts of people serving their communities well. From companies pivoting their production lines to produce needed safety equipment to volunteers delivering boxes of food to the most vulnerable members of our community, people are stepping up to support healthcare workers, their neighbors, and others in need. Even following the Stay at Home orders, keeping a 6-foot distance while shopping in stores, and following other CDC guidelines are important ways to exercise Citizenship.

  • Create Community through Social Media

Dear Parents, In light of the campuses being closed until further notice, there will be significant adjustments to the learning environment until our district and county officials deem it appropriate to return to our buildings. Life School leaders and teachers are working diligently to prepare at-home learning plans and will communicate frequently with you as we have more information daily.

  • Creatively Solving Problems

Dear Life School Families, This week begins the 9th week of distance learning for our students. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced companies and organizations world-wide to seek new solutions for almost everything. For Life School, that meant finding a way to provide curriculum and instruction to our students, and getting meals and devices to families most in need. For families, that meant creating space for a healthy work and learning environment at home. Please click here to hear how one of our Life School counselors used LifeLeader attributes to create a workspace at home.

  • Extended Spring Break Due to COVID-19

Dear Life School Parents, During spring break, our staff has been closely monitoring the news and latest information regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) from the Texas Education Agency, state and national health officials and other emergency medical professionals. Additionally, our campuses have been thoroughly cleaned with commercial-grade disinfectant to ensure our buildings are ready for the return of our students and staff.

  • Face-to-Face Learning & UIL Spectator Guidelines

Dear Life School Families, we want to start by thanking you for partnering with us to support students in the remote learning environment.

  • Final Week of Distance Learning

Dear Life School Families, We are in our final week of distance learning. As the school year comes to a close, this is the week we would have many end of year celebrations on campuses. While those will not be in-person this year, we hope you take time to celebrate the completion of another school year full of hard work and determination. And for our high school seniors, the most anticipated celebration of the year is upon us.

  • Get Creative with Family Activities

Dear Life School Families, Congratulations! We have completed another week of distance learning. We hope that you all are finding a routine to your day and learning new things about your students each day.

  • Governor Abbott Closes All Schools

Dear Life School Families, Today, April 17th, Governor Greg Abbott announced the closure of all Texas schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year due to ongoing safety concerns surrounding COVID-19. In accordance with the governor’s order, all Life School campuses will remain closed and all school events are canceled for the remainder of the school year. TEA will provide information in the coming weeks about graduation ceremonies. Life School will provide ongoing support for our high school seniors as they work to graduate and complete their K-12 education and prepare for their next steps in life.

  • Governor Abbott Closes Schools Until May 4

Dear Life School families and staff, As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise throughout the country, our state and specifically in North Texas, today Governor Greg Abbott issued a statewide Executive Order closing all schools until May 4. This date could be extended if needed as health agencies continue monitoring the COVID-19 situation. As such, Life School students and teachers will continue distance learning during this time.

  • Grading Policies & Monitoring

Dear Life School Families, Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we develop and implement our Life School Distance Learning plan. One of the biggest questions our school leadership has been addressing is how Life School will issue grades and course credit during this unprecedented period of public health emergency.
