Life School Student Athletes 2021 Service Projects

Life School Student-Athletes Give Back Through Community Partnerships

 

Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) Volunteer Initiatives:

  • Every Friday during the school year, LHSW student-athletes and Cheerleaders read books to Life School Lancaster (LSL) students through the ‘Bear Readers’ program.  
  • The LHSW Football team volunteered to pick up trash around Waxahachie in honor of the City of Waxahachie’s 'Keep Waxahachie Beautiful Day.'
  • The boys Basketball team and cheerleaders hosted a free basketball clinic and game for the Desoto Soaring Eagle Center, a nonprofit that supports adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • As part of the Life School Lancaster Elementary (LSL) carnival, the LHSW Volleyball team ran a variety of booths and games for the elementary students.

 

Life High School Oak Cliff (LHSOC) Volunteer Initiatives:

  • The LHSOC Volleyball team collected and donated to the Genesis Women's Shelter, a nonprofit that helps women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. 
  • LHSOC's Cross Country and Soccer teams mentored elementary students every week through the Players Leading And Affirming Youth (PLAAY) program.
  • The LHSOC Football team partnered with Mission Oak Cliff Food Pantry to stock, load, and organize donated food.
  • During October’s ‘Pink Out’ event, the Sports Medicine team raised over $700 and donated to The Bridge Breast Cancer Network. They also wrote dozens of hand-written encouragements to local hospitals throughout the Dallas area.
