Life School Face-to-face Learning to Begin September 14th
Dear Life School Parents,
Due to the recommendations of local health officials, Life School made the decision to delay our return to on-campus learning until after September 8th. Now that we have begun instruction and state officials have given authority to local school districts to determine their return to campus protocols, Life School feels strongly that it is our responsibility to provide a face-to-face learning environment for families.
Today, the Life School Board of Directors approved Life School’s return date for Face-to-Face Learning. Students who have selected the on-campus learning option will return to campus on Monday, September 14th. The September 14th date was selected to allow time to communicate our plan to staff and families as well as time to prepare on-campus logistics before students return to the classroom.
While the remote learning option that Life School has created for this year is superior to what was offered last spring, for many students, face-to-face learning is the most effective option. District leaders have been in communication with health officials in both Dallas and Ellis counties and have evaluated recommendations from all parties as part of the factors the district considered when weighing this decision. Based on the extensive safety protocols that Life School has put in place for face-to-face learning, along with the steady decline in rates of positive cases, we believe it is imperative we work toward opening our doors for families who need or want this option for their student.
We have monitored protocols and practices in other school districts that have opened and experienced limited exposure and spread of COVID-19. Life School has worked tirelessly to create necessary safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff. We understand that there is a risk associated with choosing to send your student back to campus and each family must weigh that risk, along with other factors, carefully. Every family in our district has the ability to choose the option that best fits their needs.
Parents wishing to change the learning option choice for their student starting September 14th should email the registrar at their local campus. Visit the Registrar’s Contact Information page to do so. There is no need to email the campus registrar if you do not want to change your student’s learning option. Requests to change the learning option must be received by noon on August 31st.
Families who wish to continue remote learning may do so throughout the school year. Life School will provide the opportunity to change a student’s learning preference from remote learning to on-campus learning two weeks prior to the start of the next nine-week grading period. Families who wish to change from on-campus learning to remote learning may do so at any time throughout the school year.
We understand this is an important decision for your family. Please view the Plan for Face-to-Face Learning page. You can also view this to see some of the ways our facility teams are working hard to protect our students and staff, by visiting the Cleanliness Face-To-Face Learning video.
Thank you for your partnership and we look forward to seeing students on campus and online!
