Life School is pleased to announce that Mrs. Veronica Pelton has been selected as principal for Life School Mountain Creek Elementary (LSMC). Pelton began her career in education in 2008 at Dallas ISD. Throughout her many years in education, she has served as a special education teacher and a 3rd and 5th-grade teacher.
In 2015 Ms. Pelton joined Life School as a Reading Specialist and was selected to serve as assistant principal for Life School Lancaster. She now brings her experience with curriculum, special education, and teaching to Life School’s Dallas campus at Spur 408 and Illinois Avenue.
“Veronica has a thorough understanding of what it takes to grow a strong academic program and build trust with our partners and community,” said Director of Elementary Leading and Learning Joy Shepherd. “We are excited to see the Mountain Creek campus, students, parents and staff thrive with Mrs. Pelton leading the charge.”
Mrs. Pelton earned a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction in 2008 from The University of Texas at Arlington and Educational Leadership in 2018 from Lamar University. She holds Principal, Generalist, and Special Education Certifications.
Mrs. Pelton says, “I am very honored and excited to have been given the opportunity to join the Mountain Creek School family as your new principal and to return to Life School. As campus principal, I look forward to continuing to serve the students, families, and community. I will partner with you as we strive to exceed expectations and equip our students with the skills they will need to be reflective, balanced, and capable learners for the road ahead.”
Life School Oak Cliff was established in 1998 with only 266 students. Life School Mountain Creek Elementary was established in 2013, bringing Life School’s enrollment to 4,644 students. Today, the Life School district serves more than 5,500 students across the Dallas area.
