All-Ellis County Team

This spring marked an exciting season for the girls and boys soccer teams at Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW). Both teams celebrated school history firsts. To finish the season, 8 girls and 3 boys were named to the All-Ellis County Soccer team for the 2023 season.

LHSW Girls Soccer had an 18-5-1 record this year. They won the District 6-4A Championship as well as the Bi-District Playoff Championship. They scored a season-high 106 goals, which was the highest in school history. The girls only allowed twenty-four goals the entire season. In addition, 8 players were named as part of the girls All-Ellis County Team. One of the players was named a top 3 candidate for the All-Ellis County Player of the Year. The players and their stats include:

Adriana Villarreal, Sr. Forward – 6 Goals, 3 Assists

Ashley Heer, Senior, Midfielder – 12 Goals, 11 Assists, District 6-4A Utility Player of the Year

Kaylynn Griffis, Sophomore, Defender – 2 Goals, 2 Assists, 15 Shutouts, District 6-4A Defensive MVP

Kendyll Ashcraft, Senior, Goalie – 63 Saves, 15 Shutouts, Selected for TASCO Senior All-Star Game

Zanae Nylund, Freshman, Forward – 27 Goals, 10 Assists, District 6-4A MVP. Top 3 candidate for All-Ellis County Player of the Year.

LHSW Boys Soccer holds a 20-4-2 record this year. They won the District 6-4A Championship, which marks a first in school history. They also won the Bi-District and Area Playoff Championships. In addition, 3 players were named part of the boys All-Ellis County Team. The players and their stats include:

Adam Alvarez, Senior, Midfielder – 16 Goals, 7 Assists, District 6-4A Utility Player of the Year

Alejandro Vazquez, Senior, Defender – 3 Goals, 8 Shutouts, District 6-4A Defensive MVP

Gabriel Rodriguez, Sophomore, Midfielder – 41 Goals (top 10 in the state), 27 Assists. District 6-4A MVP.

Chase Bishop, LHSW Girls and Boys Head Soccer Coach, said, “This program has come a long way since it started in 2015. We’ve been blessed with great coaches, staff, admin, and student athletes at this campus who work hard on and off the field. We’re looking forward to the years to come and to build on this historic season!“
