- LSOC Attends UIL State Cross-Examination Debate Meet
Life High School Oak Cliff (LHSOC) had 4 students qualify for the 2022-2023 University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Cross-Examination (CX) Debate Meet. The meet was held at the University of Texas at Austin from March 13-18, 2023.
The students qualified for the state meet by placing first or second place at the UIL District Cross-Examination Debate meet held on January 12, 2023, at Brookhaven College.
- Life School Expands to Grades 7-8 at Mountain Creek (Dallas)
For a decade, Life School Mountain Creek at Spur 408 and Illinois Avenue has served thousands of families by offering kindergarten through 6th grade. In August 2023, the campus is expanding to offer grades 7-8, giving more flexibility and stability to families in West Dallas.
- Texas House of Representatives Honors Life School for 25 Years of Service
On Monday, April 24th, a delegation of representatives from Life School traveled to Austin to receive special recognition in honor of 25 years of service in the State of Texas. Representative Brian Harrison presented a resolution on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives celebrating Life School for their milestone achievement.
- Life School Holds Annual Gifted & Talented Expo
Life School held its annual Gifted & Talented (GT) Expo Awards on April 21, 2023. This year, the GT Expo was held at Life School Red Oak. Students, parents and staff filled the campus as GT students competed for the title of “Humanitarian of The Year” and participated in activities that explored the way of life of those in developing countries.
- Eleven Life High School Waxahachie Soccer Players Make All-Ellis County Team
This spring marked an exciting season for the girls and boys soccer teams at Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW). Both teams celebrated school history firsts. To finish the season, 8 girls and 3 boys were named to the All-Ellis County Soccer team for the 2023 season.
- Life High School Waxahachie Boys Track Athletes Advance to State
Several athletes from Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) are heading to Austin to compete in the upcoming Track & Field UIL State Championships at The University of Texas at Austin. After an exciting season that included new school records, and regional, area and district championship wins, the boys will compete for the state title on May 11, 2023.
- Life School Athletics Names April Coach Spotlight Honorees
During April's Coach Spotlights, Life School's athletic department recognized Braylon Birdowand Jasmine Sanchez for their sacrifice of time and passion for Life School athletics.
- Life High School Waxahachie Baseball Team Wins Area Championship
On Saturday, May 13, the Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) varsity baseball team beat the Anna High School Coyotes to win the Area Championship.
In a best-of-three-game series, the Mustangs came out victorious. The Mustangs won game one of the series 5-1 before falling in game two, which forced an elimination game. However, in game three, the Mustangs’ bats carried them to a 14-7 victory. The win earned the Mustangs the Area Champs title for the second time in three years.
- Life School Begins Partnership with Texas State Technical College for Occupational Skills Training
This school year, Life School began its partnership with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to provide occupational skills training for high school students at Oak Cliff and Waxahachie campuses. The partnership supports Life School’s commitment to help students become “ready for life” through college, career or military readiness.

- Life School Athletics Keeps Students on Winning Track
Life School is one of the few charter school districts that competes in UIL activities. As an open-enrollment district, students come to Life School from all over the Dallas area. And while winning on the field is fun, it’s not the main driver of success taught at Life School.
- Dr. Alissa Russell Selected for Teach Plus Policy Fellowship Cohort

Teach, Plus, a national teacher leadership organization, has selected 50 demonstrably effective teachers from around Texas for its 2023-2024 Policy Fellowship cohort. The Fellows, all of whom are classroom teachers, will focus on a range of issues of importance to Texas’ students and communities, including equitable school funding, diversifying the teacher workforce, teacher preparation for effective educators, the mental health of educators and students, and high-quality instructional materials.
