For a quick lesson on financial literacy that you can use in your home, check out this month’s LifeLeader mini-lesson. These LifeHabits mini-lessons are designed around our LifeLeader attributes to spark conversations with students. Please see the Parent Resources section at the bottom of this newsletter for additional LifeLeader resources.
Student LifeLeader in Action - Humility
One of our Life School students was recognized this past week by a neighboring school’s superintendent for exhibiting leadership while competing in the district track meet. During the track meet, a competitor from another school district was 2 full laps behind the top finishers in the 3200-meter run. Knowing that completing this race would be tough, LHSW varsity runner Maxwell Melton, set to compete in the very next race, exercised extreme humility by running alongside the competitor to offer support and encouragement. Alvarado Superintendent, Dr. Kenneth Estes emailed district administrators recognizing Melton’s actions as “an amazing display of sportsmanship, support, and encouragement!”
Melton will be honored for his actions this week at the 4A Area Track Meet. Life School is honored to have such incredible students leading by example!
Recently, we were asked by a Life School parent for items they could display at home that would help teach and reinforce the LifeLeader language. In response to this request, our LifeLeader Action Team revised this poster created for classrooms to help support parents with character development at home. This resource is available for download by clicking here.
Thursday, April 8th was Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. We are so grateful for the way our para’s serve so many teachers and students in our district!
Cynthia Sons joined Life School as a substitute six months ago after relocating to Texas from Oklahoma. Cynthia brings 13 years of teaching and 25+ years of coaching experience to our classrooms. She has covered numerous long-term substitute assignments. We appreciate Ms. Son’s commitment, diligence, and amazing teaching talents in our classrooms.

Support Texas Public Charter Schools
Texas public charters are playing an important role in reaching the state’s goal to improve postsecondary outcomes. Public charters are sending 4% more (58%) of their students to college than traditional public schools. Notably, public charters are doing this while serving higher percentages of students from historically underserved groups. In fact, the trends for these populations defy traditional conventions and national data about these students’ college-going rates. With a 100% graduation rate and 77% of students college-bound, Life School is fully committed to preparing our students to be Ready to Learn, Ready to Lead, and Ready for Life. Get the full report by clicking here!
